Detective stories are very popular in American movies. James Bond is probably the most famous crime-solving movie character. This character has been in 22 movies, from 1962 until now. The next James Bond movie will come to theatres in 2011.
When I was a little girl (a long time ago!), the most popular detective movie was The Pink Panther. The Pink Panther movies were comedies, about a clumsy French detective, Inspector Clouseau (played by British actor Peter Sellers).
Charlie's Angels was a detective show famous for its sexy female detectives (played by Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd, and Farrah Fawcett). This show was on TV in the 1970s.
In the 1990s, Canadian comedian Mike Myers created the character Austin Powers - a time-traveling British "ladies' man" who always tried to stop Dr. Evil (who was also played by Mike Myers). These movies are called "spoofs" because they make fun of the James Bond movies of the 1960s.
CSI is probably the most popular detective TV show nowadays. The show CSI is actually many different series that take place in different American cities and have different characters. The theme songs ("OST") for these shows all comes from British rock band "The Who" - most of these theme songs are older songs that were famous in the 1970s.

ReplyDeleteI like detective movies. I was very impressed by 'The Chaser'. 'The Caser' is a story of detective and psycopath. That detective is very slack in his work, and he commited the wrong. But, When he meet the psycopath, he changed.
Korean detective is more human than western detective. western detective is perfect in the movie, but korean detective have a weekness.

I don't konw about a lot of korean detective movies.It is different of western-style detective movies.Actually,korea don't have many detective movies.

ReplyDeleteActually I don't like detective movies. Because I'm afraid of detective, horror movies so I don't know about Korea detective movies very well. But I think if I choose best detective character, that is "Co-nan". Conan is cartoon film in Japan not Korea. But, This film recall my teen's time, when I was teen's I often watched Conan with scary and curiosity.
I love the detective movie!! "Memories of Murder" is detective movie most popular in Korea. Memories of Murder is ture story movie. This movie background the consecutive murder incidents at 1986, Hwaseong, Gyeong-Gi-Do. Murderer only killed woman after sexual violence in rainning day. Murderer was not arrest yet. So I watch the movie very interest. But I think Korean detective movies is inferior to western-style detective movies. Because Korean detective movies is immaturity.

ReplyDeleteThe detective movie what I saw was "Seven days". But, after I didn't saw detective movies anymore, because murther and violence things make me afraid.
The genre I like is sports movies. The best movie I choose for sports movie was "국가대표". It's Korean movie made recently.
It's about ski jumping. After I saw it, I got a strong impression. I suggest you to see it.
I don't like detective movie. Beause atmosphere of many detective movie is gloomy.
ReplyDeleteBut I like just one of detective movie. Subject is 'seven days'. There is mother that daughter is taked away. She is public lawyar. And she is calld by kidnaper. The kidnaper require that she will release suspected person '정철진' within seven days. Then her daughter survive. This movie have twisted plot.
I suggest this moive.

Kim Yoon-Seok, a police turned master of a brothel, finds that girls are missing one by one without peculiar reason. Kim Yoon-Seok chases after him and meets Ha Jeong-Woo and, convincing him to be the murderer, he arrests him. Ha Jeong-Woo confesses in a quiet tone that he killed the girls. He is a psychopath!!
I think Korean detective movie and western-style detective are very difference.
And I don't know about chinese detective movie. (but I want know.)

my favorite movie is CSI. this movie is very interesting stories. this storise is different every time. and, I like action movice. detective films and action films have Tension and interesting. but korea detective movice have not tension more western-style detective movies. actually i don.t know about a lot of korea detective movices.
Actually, I don't like detective movies. Because there are many scary and tense scenes in the movies. Thus I didn't see 'The chaser' which was the most popular detecitve movie in the late 2008.
ReplyDeleteBy contrast, I like romantic comedy movies and sad love stories. So my favorite movies are 'The Notebook' and 'A Moment to Remember'. I really love those movies and I watched the movies almost 5~6 times.
Last year,I saw a film with my friend. It's name is 'Voice of a mueder'. This is a true story film. About 20 years ago, a boy was abducted. A criminal demaned his parents a lot of money. So they declared police station. But boy was gone and policeman didn't catch a ciminal.

I don' like watch the movies. but I remember the movie is "Public Enemy 1". one Public Enemy is antisocial enemy, example he want he's parents money. so kill them. the order the hero is incompetent detective. but do he's best for catch him. finally the hero is win. almost korean movie is encouraging good and punishing evil.(find dictionary) I like this lesson.

'Memories Of Murder' , I think it was the best detective movie that I had seen ever since. 'Memories Of Murder' is based on a true story of a little village in which someone begins to murder young women.

I don't like detective movies. So I don't know well about the detective movies. In addition, there are few detective movies in korea. But I like CSI a little. So I often watched it through TV. Although you know well about the CSI, I tell you about it because this is the movie which I only have known well. I don't know the characters name. But I knew the over all story. At first, the drama begins and a murder case happen. And the CSI investigate team conducts a investigation about the event. They use many scientifical methods to solve the problem. These methods are very brand new technology applying biology, anatomy, etc. In the end, they solve the problem surprisingly. I heard that some Korean detective movies such as “Byulsoongum" mimic or similar to the CSI's detective style. And I never know about the chinese detective movies.

I like detective movies. I often used to see detective movies. My favorite movie is "Shadow Murer(그림자살인)." A hero of this movie is hwang jung min. He is the best actor and preeminent his performance. And this movie has a faint turning over. So I like western-style detective movies than korean detective movies.
